How it works

How it works

Remote, recorded, fixed: a fixed scope, a fixed price and a fixed date, agreed before anything starts.

Nine steps · two or three rounds · paid in three parts

The journey

Nine steps from the first message to the follow-up, and nothing to attend: the work is asynchronous, with progress notes at agreed points. Every unknown is marked in one place, and no phone number, address or registration number is ever invented, because a plausible fake can reach print.

  1. EnquiryYou book a Brand Audit. Studio Nebula replies within two business days with a booking, or a straight "not a fit" and the reason.
  2. Brand Audit R3,500Everything you supply, reviewed: the reconciliation table, the sacred / tired / broken split, measured contrast on your palette, one 45-minute call. Credited in full against any identity booked within 30 days.
  3. Proposal and agreement 50%Fixed counts, a fixed fee, a fixed date, named rounds, and a list of what is out of scope. You sign and pay the first half. Portfolio rights are agreed here, at signature.
  4. Onboarding 30%You return the questionnaire and the source material; the decisions are confirmed in writing and the project plan delivered. The second payment is attached to that plan.
  5. BuildAsynchronous. Progress notes at agreed points, not on demand.
  6. Review 2 or 3 roundsTwo rounds on a Practice Identity, three on an Identity System, two on anything else. A round is one consolidated set of written changes from your one nominated person. Questions never use a round. Once you approve a piece, it is final.
  7. Delivery-ready 20%The work is complete and presented. The final invoice is issued now, and the files transfer on payment.
  8. HandoverThe package, a README covering formats, colour and how to rebuild, and a recorded walkthrough. You own the files.
  9. Afterwards 6 to 8 weeksA Brand Care quote on the final invoice, and a check-in at six to eight weeks.

Payment

Three parts rather than one, so the cost sits across the project instead of landing in a single month. Invoices are due within 7 days, and a late payment moves the delivery schedule, not only the invoice date. Delivery-ready means the work is complete and has been presented; it does not wait for sign-off, because a project can be finished while you are legitimately unavailable, and neither side should carry that period. The final invoice is issued when the work is ready, and the files are released when it is paid.

The standing terms

Nine rules that apply to every engagement, stated here so they are read before a project rather than during one. The complete terms, including what counts as an error and what counts as a change, are on the Terms page; where they differ from the service agreement you sign, the signed agreement wins.

  1. The stall 15 business daysIf nothing needed to continue arrives for 15 business days, the project pauses, the milestones reached become invoiceable, and restarting costs R2,500.
  2. Change orders R850 per hourWork beyond the included rounds, or outside the scope, is a change order: written, priced and signed before it starts, at R850 per hour.
  3. Approval finalApproved means final. A change after approval is new work, quoted before it starts.
  4. Errors fixed freeErrors on Studio Nebula's side are fixed free, whenever they are found.
  5. Ownership on final paymentOwnership transfers on final payment.
  6. Response two business daysResponse within two business days. Response is not resolution.
  7. Typefaces stated per projectTypefaces are licensed to you or to the studio, stated per project; converted build artefacts are never shipped as font files.
  8. Remote event days exceptedAll work is remote. The studio does not attend premises, except event days quoted separately.
  9. Third-party costs at costThird-party costs, such as typefaces, stock and printing, are passed through at cost.
